A reworked camouflage cadet cap featuring layered textiles, hand-painted artwork, and reclaimed materials. At the front is a distressed black denim patch displaying a hand-painted punk Nijntje complete with a facial piercing, creating a playful contrast against the military-inspired base.

Hand-painted stars run across the top of the cap, while striped cotton jersey remnants wrap around the brim and sides. Red contrast stitching and scattered safety pins add further texture and detail throughout the piece.

Finished with a distressed black denim Brontë label, each cap is assembled by hand using reclaimed materials and small-batch techniques. Slight variations in distressing, paintwork, and hardware placement may occur, making every piece unique.

How it's made / curated

Each cap begins as a camouflage cadet cap sourced in small quantities and reworked by Brontë in her Amsterdam atelier. Leftover fabrics and remnants from previous projects are incorporated wherever possible, extending the life of existing materials.

For this design, the central artwork is hand-painted onto reclaimed black denim before being distressed and appliquéd onto the cap. Additional black denim details, including the Brontë label, are also distressed and attached by hand.

Striped cotton jersey scraps are sewn onto the brim and sides, while hand-painted stars, red contrast stitching, and small safety pins are added individually to complete the design.

Because each cap is made by hand using reclaimed materials, slight variations in paintwork, distressing, stitching, and hardware placement are a natural part of the process.
