A ramen bowl in speckled stoneware clay, designed with a folded, indented rim to rest chopsticks comfortably and support easy sipping directly from the bowl. A bowl with quiet personality, designed to hold your most comforting and favourite meals.

Each piece is made to order, with green glaze variations available. To discuss glaze options or request a custom colour variation, please email MJ or send a message via Instagram.

How it's made / curated

MJ creates each piece by hand in her home studio in Amsterdam. Working in small batches allows her to stay closely involved with each stage of the process, from forming to finishing.

Using primarily the pottery wheel, she shapes and trims the clay, adding surface details such as carvings and handles before allowing each piece to dry. It is then fired in a kiln at 1000°C to become bisqueware. From there, each piece is glazed by hand, often using painting techniques and glaze experiments that give every piece its own character and surface variation. A final firing at 1220°C transforms it into durable stoneware.

MJ’s process is intentionally slow, hands-on, and intuitive, allowing each piece to develop its own expression. Subtle variations and small imperfections are part of the making process, reflecting the human hand behind each object.
