This photography is part of a series on Albania.
During a trip to Albania, someone told me that until the early 1990s, the country had very few private cars. Under the regime of Enver Hoxha, private car ownership was prohibited for decades. The country moved mainly by foot, bicycle, bus, donkey and truck. Only after the fall of communism in 1991 did this begin to change. Today, luxury electric taxis, polished SUVs and expensive cars move through roads that are not always built for this new speed.
This tension forms the underlying layer of this photo series. It shows an Albania of rapid development, but also an Albania where the raw landscape is still strongly present: isolated mountains, dusty roads, shepherds and sheep, and villages where time, distance and slowness can still be felt. Albania feels like a country at a tipping point, where infrastructure, tourism and capital are moving deeper into the landscape. These photographs search for the moment just before that transformation becomes fully visible: a world where progress has not yet taken the same shape everywhere.

My photography often begins while travelling, walking or spending time in places that feel layered, quiet or slightly in between. I am drawn to landscapes, streets and everyday scenes where traces of memory, change and human presence are still visible.
Most of my work is made with analog photography techniques. Shooting on film slows down the process and gives the images a certain softness, texture and unpredictability. The act of photographing becomes part of the experience itself: observing, waiting, moving through a place and responding to what appears.
The locations vary from remote landscapes and small villages to urban edges, coastlines and places shaped by subcultures, history or transition. I am interested in how people live with their surroundings, and how a landscape can hold social, political and personal stories at the same time.
The people involved are often the people I meet along the way: residents, travellers, friends, strangers, or sometimes simply myself in relation to the place. Through these encounters, the photographs become small fragments of a larger story about attention, memory and being present.
The digital print is made using high-quality matte printing, ensuring vibrant colors and fine details. Each piece is printed on premium, matte paper designed to preserve the details and depth of the images.
