Ink drawing, digitally printed on textured paper with a pink-themed background. Once printed, imitation gold leaf is hand-painted onto the print. As a result, this print is part of a limited edition collection.

This drawing is based on a background figure spotted by the artist in a Renaissance painting. She gave the figure a more modern look by sticking a cigarette between her fingers and making her caffeine dependent.

How it's made / curated

This began as an ink drawing of a background figure in a Renaissance painting. Once the drawing was complete, I scanned it and put it through a graphic design system to add the coloured background. I then had the design printed on textured paper in Amsterdam. Once I brought it back to my studio in Leiden, I hand-painted imitation gold leaf foil onto the print.
