Her story

Founded in 2021 by Luna Montbord in Bordeaux, Mezzaluna reflects her lifelong passion for jewelry and craftsmanship, as well as her deep appreciation for her cultural heritage. Growing up in a family of antique dealers, she was surrounded by historical objects and antique jewelry from an early age — sparking a fascination with restoration, transformation, and forgotten beauty. Her Filipino grandmother further shaped this perspective, introducing her to traditional craftsmanship and the delicate art of working with Philippine pearls.

“Each creation gives new life to existing materials while preserving their history and soul.”

Craftsmanship

Each piece is handcrafted by Luna Montbord, blending antique influences with contemporary design. She works with a combination of vintage jewelry, deadstock materials from old jewelry houses, contemporary components, and carefully selected freshwater pearls sourced from responsible farms in the Philippines.

Luna personally sources vintage jewelry and antique components at antique fairs and vintage markets across France, selecting each piece for its character, history, and craftsmanship. These materials are restored, reworked, and reinterpreted into new designs through an artisanal process inspired by both traditional techniques and antique jewelry restoration.

“I draw inspiration from jewelry across different eras, studying their structures, materials, and techniques—carefully combining antique and contemporary elements to create unique pieces or small series collections.”

Sustainability

Mezzaluna is rooted in a slow and sustainable approach. All jewelry is handmade in small quantities or as one-of-a-kind creations, encouraging a slower and more conscious approach to consumption. By using existing materials such as vintage jewelry, antique elements, and deadstock components, she gives these unused pieces a second life.

Freshwater pearls are carefully sourced by Luna herself from an environmentally responsible pearl farm in the Philippines, ensuring sustainable farming practices and a meaningful connection to her heritage. Lastly, the brand prioritizes durable materials such as sterling silver, gold-plated, gold-filled, and stainless steel, resulting in pieces designed to be worn often and treasured over time.
