Her story

Studio Selles was founded by Rosan Selles in 2019 in Amsterdam. After graduating in Fashion Design at the AMFI, Rosan Selles bought her first knitting machine. Driven by a passion for knitwear and sustainability, she decided to create a conscious, slow fashion label rooted in craftsmanship and thoughtful production. Inspired by nature and traditional craft, Rosan begins each design by developing the knitted textile itself, experimenting with its texture and structure before shaping it into a garment. In 2024, Studio Selles moved into a new studio space in Amsterdam, where Rosan now also shares her knowledge and passion through knitting machine courses and workshops.

“Through experimentation with texture, structure, and contrast, each piece develops its own character.”

Craftsmanship

Studio Selles creates knitwear and accessories, handmade by Rosan on domestic knitting machines. The items are knitted with natural and responsibly sourced materials, including certified cotton, silk and merino wool. Each garment is knitted in shape rather than conventionally cut and sewn, allowing for the construction process to become part of the design itself. Produced by hand and finished in the studio, every piece reflects a balance between technical craftsmanship and tactile experimentation. She only produces in limited drops and production can take up to 15 business days.

"Every item is handmade on domestic knitting machines, knitted in shape, and produced to order to minimise waste."

Sustainability

Sustainability is embedded in Studio Selles’ made-to-order approach, with garments knitted in shape to minimise waste and produced only as needed. By working with certified natural materials, avoiding large-scale seasonal production by only making to order, the label encourages a slower model of fashion centred on longevity, conscious consumption, and responsible material choices.

Collaborations

Studio Selles has collaborated with like-minded brands and creatives to explore new approaches to knitwear. With HAAS Amsterdam, the label developed a hybrid lace jersey combining knitted and woven techniques, inspired by football jerseys and French nightgowns. In collaboration with Just Waldo, Studio Selles reworked vintage sweaters by carefully deconstructing existing garments and reusing their yarns to create new silhouettes.
