Pinkorange is a fashion brand presenting collections co-created with artists-in-residence on Vlieland, translating nature and artistic work into timeless menswear and unisex apparel. Each garment is sustainably produced in Portugal, designed with care and made to be worn and loved for a long time.
His story
Pinkorange was founded by Sil Oosterbaan in 2018 on the island of Vlieland, inspired by the unique feeling of being surrounded by nature in an isolated environment. Named after the colors of the sunset, Pinkorange brings together two of its greatest passions: nature and art.
At the heart of the brand is a creative residency program. Each season, Pinkorange invites an artist to Vlieland, where the island’s remote landscape serves as both studio and inspiration. The artworks created during these residencies form the starting point for new clothing collections, translating artistic expression and the spirit of the island into wearable pieces.
“Every season, we invite a different artist to join us on Vlieland, the island where it all began. Surrounded by nature, each artist creates a new body of work that becomes the foundation for our collections.”
Production
Pinkorange presents timeless menswear and unisex collections inspired by art and nature. Each collection is based on the work of an artist invited to a residency on Vlieland, where the island’s landscape and atmosphere serve as a source of inspiration.
Pinkorange produces its garments in the Braga region of Portugal, working closely with local manufacturers throughout the process. Most pieces are made from organic cotton, which is woven, dyed, treated, and carefully finished before being cut, printed or embroidered, and assembled into the final garment. By overseeing each stage of production, Pinkorange ensures a high standard of quality, durability, and craftsmanship in every collection.
"As a clothing brand based on an island with heath, dunes and forests, we feel the awareness and responsibility for sustainability in the broadest sense."
Sustainability
As a brand rooted in the natural landscape of Vlieland, Pinkorange is committed to making conscious choices throughout the entire process—from materials and production to the long-term use of each garment.
The brand primarily works with GOTS-certified organic cotton and produces its collections in carefully selected factories in Portugal that share its values around quality and craftsmanship. Timeless designs, durable materials, and thoughtful construction ensure that each piece is made to be worn for years. Pinkorange also encourages customers to repair, reuse, and pass on garments, extending their lifespan and reducing waste.
